Introduction to Ikebana

The Japanese Art of Flower Arranging
Explore beginning techniques and design principles of Ikebana, a Japanese tradition from the 6th century. Ikebana is a contemplative art using the beauty and form of flowers and greenery as the medium. Practitioners cultivate awareness and attention to balance, harmony and space through the creative world of Ikebana, principles which can then be incorporated into everyday life. Fee, including materials: $42 member;

Instructor: Sharon Stuart
Sharon Stuart, Master Teacher Sogetsu School has studied Ikebana for 15 years. She received her teaching diploma in 1999 and traveled to Japan and elsewhere for additional master classes. Sharon offers introductory workshops as well as ongoing instruction to past students. She is actively involved in the Sogetsu Colorado branch, and participates annually in Ikebana exhibits and demonstrations held in Denver.
